Satellite TV – A Technological Marvel
Satellite TV is all about technology. In this case the television programs are transmitted directly from the communication satellites that are placed on various orbits such as Molniya, Geostationary and other elliptical orbits. The job of these satellites is to transmit the high quality television signals to the dish antenna. And from the antenna the signals gets transferred to the receivers via coaxial cables.

A typical satellite television kit contains a dish antenna and a satellite receiver. The Job of a dish antenna is to collect the digital signals from the geosynchronous satellites and send that to the satellite receivers. The signal that enters a receiver is high quality digital signals. From the receiver the signals get converted into analog and from there it is transferred to the television set.

The latest MPEG 4 audio video compression technology has been adopted by the satellite TV providers. Because of this people are able to see crystal clear images on their television. They have even introduced HD or High definition video programming to maximize the pleasure of watching TV at home. HD video system allows the viewer to watch true-to-life moving images on their HDTV sets.

Plenty of interactive services are offered to the viewers by the service providers of satellite television. Interactive services like Electronic Program Guide and games are offered to make things even more exciting and entertaining. These high quality innovative services can be availed only in this platform. Other platforms like cable TV (CATV) is unable to offer these simply because the technologies used are not up to the mark. This is the reason that has made satellite television highly popular among people.

UHF Remotes for satellite TV receivers
Nowadays satellite TV receiver models are coming with UHF or Ultra High Frequency Remote control devices. The device allows the users to control their satellite receivers from a different room. The standard Infra red (IR) remote controls are also offered along with UHF one. This means that users are getting two remotes to operate their dish DVR receivers.

UHF or Ultra High Frequency is referred to the electromagnetic waves whose frequency ranges from 300 Megahertz to 3,000 Megahertz or 3 Gigahertz. This frequency range is also known as decimeter wave or decimeter band. These electromagnetic frequencies are normally used for transmitting television signals. Nowadays mobile phone service providers are using the UHF spectrum to offer their services to the subscribers.

UHF is also used by narrow band radio modems that are used for long range data communication. GPS or Global Positioning System also relies on Ultra High Frequency for effective transmission of data to GPS enabled devices. So UHF is used in various purposes such as entertainment and communication. And now it is being used in remote control devices thereby making things even more interesting.

UHF remotes simply don’t require any line of sight and therefore people can control their electronic gadgets from another room. Satellite TV service providers have realized the power of electromagnetic wave spectrum and therefore they have incorporated this feature on some of their satellite receiver models.

By using the UHF remote they can control their satellite receiver from 200 feet. A traditional infra-red remote control simply cannot do that. So viewers of satellite television are having more control on their satellite receiver.
